Day 1 Arrive in Cairns (D)
Arrive to your accommodation in Cairns
Day 2 – Undara, Georgetown (B,LD)
Early morning pick up from your accommodation, as we then travel over the Tropical Tablelands, past the wind turbines at Ravenshoe to Undara. After lunch enjoy a guided tour with a Savannah Guide through these 190,000 year old Lava Tubes. Overnight accommodation Latara Resort Georgetown
Day 3 – Croydon, Karumba (B,L,D)
An early start to the day, we visit Cumberland Chimney on our way to Croydon for a visit to the Information Centre. Lunch at Normanton, then off to Karumba for a Sunset Dinner Cruise. Overnight accommodation Karumba.
Day 4 – NORMANTON, BURKETOWN. – (BLD)
Departing Karumba we travel through Normanton to Burke and Wills Northernmost Campsite, then on to Leichhardt Falls and across the “Plains of Promise” to Burketown. After lunch we head for Boodjamulla National Park (Lawn Hill). Overnight stay at Adel’s Grove for the next 2 nights. Cabin Tents. (NO Power) (share facilities).
Day 5 – Lawn Hill National Park (B,L,D)
This morning we visit Boodjamulla National Park (Lawn Hill Gorge), with time to explore this Wildlife Haven. An Eco Boat Cruise at Lawn Hill is included today.
Day 6 – Riversleigh, Normanton (B,L,D)
Depart Adel’s Grove for Riversleigh Fossil Fields. Lunch beside the Gregory River on the way to Normanton. We then head east to meet the Matilda Highway at Burke and Wills Roadhouse for the journey to Normanton. Overnight accommodation Gulflander Motel
Day 7 – Gulflander Train, Cobbold Gorge
All aboard the famous Gulflander Train for a memorable trip to Blackbull Siding. We then head to Croydon for lunch and time to visit Croydon’s Heritage precinct, before reaching our overnight destination, picturesque Cobbold Gorge. 2 nights with ensuite facilities.
Day 8 – Cobbold Gorge (B,L,D)
A full day of outdoor enjoyment and interest, as we explore this magnificent gorge with its ancient landscape and cruise the secluded waterway with a Savannah Guide.
Day 9 – CHILLAGOE – (B,L,D)
Today we visit Einasleigh and Mount Surprise, passing outback cattle stations and the settlements of Bullock Creek, Ootan and Almaden, before arriving in Chillagoe. Overnight accommodation Chillagoe Eco Lodge. Limited ensuite rooms.
Day 10 – Chillagoe Caves, Savannahlander Train, Cairns (B,L,D)
Early morning tour of one of Chillagoe’s fascinating limestone caves. Off to Dimbulah, stopping for lunch along the way. Mid-afternoon we board the Savannahlander Train for your journey to Cairns
Day 11 – Depart Cairns (B)
Transfers to the Cairns Airport for your journey home.
